The best Airbnbs in Scotland to book now

A quick scan of Airbnbs in Scotland and it becomes apparent that the Scots know a thing or two about how to make a rental feel like a home. There's a plethora of bothies, cabins, lodges, cottages and large piles on offer, decorated in a charming manner that makes you want to cosy up in every single one. Perfect in every season, these Airbnbs would make a cosy getaway in wintertime as well as a refreshing, off-the-grid experience come the hotter summer months.
Perhaps the reason is that the Scottish climate means holidaymakers need to know they have a house they want to retreat to when the heavens inevitably open, somewhere to warm up after a day of bracing walks amongst the bracken and windswept wanders around the lochs. Scotland has so much to offer, so if you're planning a trip, these are the Airbnbs to book into.

The best Airbnbs to book in Scotland in 2026
1/11Ard Daraich Garden Studio, Fort William
Ard Daraich, a remote hideaway on the west coast of Scotland, is a place of surpassing magic that has stayed in the memory of our digital director, Virginia Clark, ever since she visited there about 10 years ago. It is situated on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, a wild and unspoiled location even by Scottish standards, and is a tiny cottage in the utterly enchanting hillside garden of a larger house that once belonged to Constance Spry. It is now owned by the artist Anna Raven (the sister of the famous gardener Sarah), who has preserved the beauty of the place and made the cottage into a very charming retreat. It is small, with a kitchen and living room on the ground floor and a bedroom and bathroom tucked into the attic. You could only stay there solo or as a couple (or with a friend you know very well), but it is designed cleverly and has everything you need, including some well stocked bookshelves for rainy days. While it does feel remote – you have to take a ferry from Fort William and drive south down the edge of Loch Linnhe to get there – its proximity to the mainland and the town means it's actually quite convenient. Summer is the obvious time to go (though be prepared for midges), but really it is a fantastic place to go at any time of year to get away from it all, swim in the loch, and curl up with a good book.
